Announcing Our Newest Principal - Louden Richason
Three years ago, Louden joined FTC as a Summer Associate. Today, he became our newest Principal.
In those three years, Louden has built a genuine sourcing presence across the US fintech ecosystem and led diligence on some of our most forward-leaning bets: fully agentic platforms reshaping how capital markets firms process information, how banks serve their customers, and how wealth managers deliver advice at scale. He works with the methodical intensity of someone who has a developed and evolving mental model of what the next decade of financial services will look like and is moving as fast as he possibly can to get there before everyone else figures it out.
What makes Louden unusual is that his instincts were sharp long before he arrived at FTC. While running his dorm room investment fund at HBS, he led the group to back the seed round in a rare-earth magnet company that is now valued at over $1 billion. His HBS project partners, meanwhile, built an agentic business of their own, also now valued at over $1 billion, and one of the first prospects they pitched was an intro from Louden.
Our takeaway - the ecosystem around Louden seems to produce outliers, so get close to him!
Inside FTC, he's also become our unofficial AI ops lead, the first person teammates turn to when they want a workflow automated, a new model evaluated, or a process rebuilt from scratch. He embodies something we genuinely believe: that the best investors of the next decade won't just evaluate AI companies, they'll think and work like them.
What's harder to teach, though, is the other stuff. There's never a "no" when someone needs help, and he is always up for running hard on something we all deem to be important - and time sensitive. In a firm built on collaboration, that's not a small thing.
We fondly call Louden, Agent L. And for the record, he is a lifelong Duke devotee and, quietly, is one of the most ambitious people in this building.
Congratulations, Agent L, aka Louden. LFG 🚀🚀🚀
